Many years ago when I first began online marketing, it appeared like a very simply way of making money from home. All I needed to do was to sign-up, listen to a little training, and be able to generate a pleasing income. Approaching online marketing without a sound strategy, resulted in a very minimal number of sales and a lot of time wasted. One might say that I was going through the school of hard knocks when it comes to making a profit on the Internet. I needed some strategies that would give me a way to reach customers who were ready and willing to buy the product or opportunity.
I would begin learning the opportunity so that I could share it with others. However, once I had a good understanding of the product/opportunity, I simply did not know of effective ways of advertising. Using search engine optimization, social media, videos, or mobile app marketing were not understood. Actually, a number of these strategies were not even available when I first began.
One of the business opportunities that I participated in offered many kinds of discounted products. At the training meetings, it seemed like everyone in the world would want these products, but that simply was not the case. Locating prime customers was easier said than done. For example, asking every family member about joining a business or buying a product might work the first time. However, very quickly my family became disinterested in business opportunities or products I would offer.
I would offer great products/opportunities but had very few methods to market them, excluding cold calling to strangers. Cold calling would work and was a viable option, however, I needed a more extensive plan of action. I needed online marketing strategies that would reach out to the world.
